Lucien Boillot makes a fantastic example. The nose is incredible, almost amaretto or frangipane like a plum frangipane tart, deep savoury yet fresh and light. Great fine red wine for a Christmas turkey or capon. One of the few reds we’d recommend for cheeses that don’t work well with tannins. The definitive wine with sweeter crustacea, white meat and the cheeses of South East France. André is considered as one of the masters of the Condrieu appellation and the viognier grape. He ploughs his soils and uses no systemic treatments unless he is \"forced to do so by bad weather\". He has worked extremely hard to rehabilitate the famed hillside of Côteau de Chéry and bring this amazing terroir back to fame. His sought after and age-worthy Condrieu bottlings are made in an almost Burgundian style with precision and sensitive use of oak. Sur Le Fil is generally a sommelier’s favourite thanks to its versatility with food, from spiced seafood to game birds, it is also a stunner with grilled foie gras! He ferments his wine in open top vats with indigenous yeasts without temperature control and bottles without any fining or filtration. Located just to the north of Ampuis on the Côte-Brune where schist is the dominant soil, Rozier is a superb vineyard with a steep, south-eastern slope.
